If you would like one of the regular Masses to be celebrated for a special intention – in thanksgiving or in memory of a loved one for example, then either speak to the priest in the Sacristy after Mass or contact the Parish Secretary who can book the Mass in the diary and receive your offering. As there is normally only one Mass each day during the week, it is recommended that you contact us well in advance if you want a Mass to be celebrated on a particular date.
Mass Offering/Stipend -The offering given for the celebration of a Mass is an expression of the donor’s desire to share in the fruits of the Mass and to support the Church’s minister. The suggested offering is established by the bishop after consultation with his council of priests. As some of the Masses are transferred to priests in difficult missions who depend on these offerings for their day-by-day support, the Diocese of Westminster suggests £10.00 per Mass though a donor could offer more. However, it is always permissible for a priest to accept a lesser offering or even no offering for a Mass. People who are unable to make an offering for their special intention may perform some other work of charity to express their gift of self to God. Each week, normally on Sunday, the priest celebrates one Mass ‘pro populo’ – for all the people of the parish.
It can happen that a booked Mass intention has to be changed at short notice if, for example, a funeral takes place. We will let you know if this happens and try to arrange another suitable date with you.
If you want to send a card to someone to tell them that the Mass is being celebrated, there is a selection of cards available at the back of the church or from the office.
