A Big Thank You

A big thank you to everyone who helped us prepare for Christmas in any way – cleaning, decorating the church, preparing the Crib, serving, ushering, reading, singers and musicians, Eucharistic Ministers, bankers, the counting teams. Special thanks to our First Holy Communion children for making the lovely Christmas prayer decorations.

Thank you also for the cards and gifts as well as your generous Christmas Offerings which, with Mass and other Stipends and the annual Easter Offerings, go towards paying the priest each month.

Pastoral Letter

Copies of the Pastoral Letter for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, 1st January 2017 are available at the back of the church on the newsletter stand.

Crib Appeal

The Crib will be available to visit until Monday 9th January, the Baptism of the Lord, and you are asked please to continue to give generously to the Catholic Children’s Society. Your support makes a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable children and adults in our Diocese. The Society reaches out to families who are homeless or where there is poverty, debt, unemployment, long-term illness or family breakdown.

Unwanted Gifts

Our Confirmation candidates will be running an unwanted gifts sale and serving teas/coffees/cakes on Sunday, 8th January after the morning Masses, to raise funds for their chosen charity SEEDs. If you have any unwanted Christmas gifts and would like to donate them to this project please hand them in to the parish office before 8th.

SEEDS

There will be no meeting in January. Next meeting Saturday, 4th February at St Peter-in-Chains, School Hall, Elm Grove, 2-4pm

First Holy Communion Prayer Sponsors

We would like each of our 42 children to have a personal Prayer Sponsor as they prepare for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in May 2017. If you would like to volunteer, please fill in your details on the list at the back of the Church. We still need 19 volunteers so we have extended the period to sign up until Sunday 8th January. We will contact you shortly after with the name of the child to remember in your diary prayers and when you attend Mass. Thank you.

Funeral

We were sad to hear of the death of James Gallagher (Jim) RIP just before Christmas. Funeral details will be published when they are available.

As we cannot identify the donor, it isn’t really suitable if you use Planned Giving Envelopes or Gift Aid your offerings. £5 will be added to your mobile phone bill and we will receive 97 pence for every £1 donated.

Diocesan Job Vacancies – Please visit http://rcdow.org.uk/diocese/jobs/ to view all vacancies.
